News: Beta Player of the Week: Synth

Announcing the Beta Player of the Week: Synth!

Synth is no stranger to The Matrix Online beta forums. He's offered plenty of assistance to those in need, sharing solutions to commonly asked questions, offering constructive commentary to discussion threads, and offering great feedback when responding to requests for information from The Matrix Online Team.

It is for these reasons that we selected Synth for the Beta Player of the Week. He took a moment to answer some of our questions, and this is what he had to say:

Q:

How long have you been beta testing for The Matrix Online?

A:

Well, let me start by thanking you people. For this privilege and for everything you have done for us. I entered the Beta on October 7th. At the time I was on a break from the forums and the invitation just brought my interest right up. At first, I thought it was a mistake, because at the time, Beta was supposed to be for USA and Canada only, and I live in Portugal.

Q:

Are you the kind of person who enjoys helping others, and why?

A:

I am always ready to help people. The community around me is a great boost too. It makes you want to help. Other members set a great example.

Q:

What are you thoughts on The Matrix Online beta community?

A:

I don't have anything to compare it to, in all honesty. As a whole, I think it's a great community, may it be to discuss Matrix philosophy, organize events, discuss features and improvements, just about anything you can think of. I was actually expecting a lonesome experience and I have to say I was surprised in a good way.

Q:

What's been the most enjoyable aspect of being a beta tester for The Matrix Online?

A:

Well, it feels great to be chosen to beta test a game like this. After the ego trip goes by, you realize you actually have a chance to make a difference. You get to help the Development Team make this game a better one. I know it's cliché, but I actually like the feeling of helping the continuation of the Matrix Trilogy be all that it can be.

But hey, playing the game before most isn't too bad either.

Q:

Is there a feature in the game that you would consider your favorite, or most exciting?

A:

For me, the most exciting one has to be Hyper-Jump. I love the liberty it presents. It's the closest one can get to flying. It's also good to know you can do something Morpheus and Trinity did. It brings the Matrix feeling closer to home.

I know you asked for one feature, but I can't leave out traveling and exploring around the Matrix. Especially when you happen to bump into a place and you notice "Hey! I've seen this in the movies!" Yeah, I know it sounds geek-ish, but it feels great to actually be IN the Matrix.

Q:

How does The Matrix Online differ from some of the other MMO titles you've seen?

A:

Well, I haven't actually played any MMO before Beta testing The Matrix Online. Although, I love the fact that it introduces the continuation of the Matrix storyline. That is one of the main reasons I entered the community in the first place, and one of the top reasons I'll be in the game when it launches.

The fact that it's not fantasy based helps a lot, for me. I don't dislike them particularly, I just wouldn't be able to get so much into one. An urban MMO is a lot more interesting for me. You can relate to it. That\'s what attracts many to the Matrix movies, and that feeling goes on into The Matrix Online.

And last but not least, the community. The community is awesome. There's role-playing for whoever wants it (and a lot of people do), there's philosophical discussion, there's everything for everyone. The community is really shaping up to be a great part of the game. That's something you'll all see when you get here.

Again, thank you guys. I really wasn't expecting this. It's a true honor.

You are welcome Synth, and thank you for your contribution to The Matrix Online Beta!
