Gameplay FAQs: Abilities FAQ

One of the unique aspects of The Matrix Online Discipline Tree system is that players have the opportunity to access every Ability Code available in the game. Though players are limited in how many abilities they can load into their minds at one time, various load out combinations may be utilized by visiting the Loading Area, or any Hardline.

How do I get new abilities?

New abilities can be found by many methods. The easiest way for a new player to get new abilities is just to find a vendor. Vendors can be found by many of the newbie hardlines like Mara and Tabor Park. Other ways would be to craft them or trade with other players either in person or through the marketplace.

How do I switch abilities?

Abilities can be swapped in and out from either the loading area or through the abilities section of the hardline menu. Simply double click on an ability to load and unload it. The major limiting factors are simply having the ability code available in your code archive, and memory capacity.

When you get a new ability you need to upload it to your code archive first before you can use it. Abilities in the code archive to not take up memory capacity. Only loaded abilities take up memory.

Where can I find higher level abilities?

Higher level abilities can be found on a few vendors scattered throughout the districts outside of the slums. Crafting should eventually become the most common way for high level abilities to enter the marketplace.

Why can’t I level up all of my abilities?

In general, special moves cannot be upgraded. The abilities that can be leveled up are those which give you progressively better buffs as they increase in level. This allows an ability like awakened to still be a benefit even when you are level 50. Others can be leveled, but only to a certain level (10, 25, 30, etc).

How do I use abilities like Restore Health on myself?

Pressing the ‘U’ key selects your character. After you select yourself you just launch the code they same way you would if you were using it on a teammate.
